A group of Huntington Quilters and friends spent an enjoyable day at the Northern Star Quilt Guild show in Somers on May 5. After being treated to a continental breakfast at Park and Ride prior to our departure–compliments of Kathy R. and her transportation company–we were on our way. We were met at Somers by NSQG reps, who made entry into the show a breeze!
The show was a feast for quilters’ eyes. Particularly noteworthy was the NSQG tribute to the Red and White Show at the Armory, and members of the Rose family were there to enjoy NSQG’s beautiful quilts inspired by the original show. We enjoyed quilts galore, a wide variety of vendors, speakers, demonstrations, a silent auction, and all too soon it was time to go. HQ members returned to the bus with bags overflowing with their purchases and their spirits lifted by the beautiful quilts they had seen. But wait, Kathy had done it again! As we boarded the bus, she had baskets of delicious sandwiches waiting for us. On the way home, Bette I. raffled off packs of fat quarters for those who had contributed to that event, along with dozens of goodies supplied by NSQG’s very generous vendors. Back to Long Island in no time. Looking forward to more HQ trips!
