Thank you to all of you who helped make our June party such a special celebration! For those of you who were not able to attend, we made the decision at the meeting to amend our meeting schedule. We will NOT have a meeting in January, and will now have formal meetings in July and August. A vote was taken to make this change in the meeting schedule, and there was an almost unanimous agreement to take this step. For this year, we will not be able to meet at the Lutheran Church in July and August. Lucie Blohm has arranged for the guild to use The Conklin Barn, which is located on New York Avenue across from Appliance World in Huntington Village. There is parking for about 20 cars (carpooling would be a good idea). There is street parking (no meters) and there are municipal lots not too far away. The meetings will be held on July 7 and August 4 from 7 – 9 pm.
The evening was bittersweet, as we wished Gilma our very best on her move to North Carolina. We are not saying goodbye, since we know Gilma will be back to visit, and who knows, maybe a guild road trip to Murrell’s Inlet could be arranged! Laura Catlan organized a hat block party for Gilma to remember us all by. Each hat was special and beautiful and conveyed something unique about the maker.
Last, but certainly not least, we thanked our outgoing board members and committee chairs, and welcomed the new!
